Hiking and ecotourism are becoming more and more popular in Armenia. It is very interesting to explore Armenia’s rich nature and such trips are very cheap and very available to everyone. Here you can find some advice, which will help you to make your trip safe not only to you, but to Nature itself.
1) Collect memories and photos, not flowers.
If you like some flowers or plants, just take a photo and go ahead. Believe us, they are not created to survive in water even in your favorite vase. It’s better not to touch any plant or fungi, because they could be very poisonous and it could become more dangerous when you are far from settlements and doctors.
2) Read a bit about that region’s rare plants.
If you decide to pick some flowers, just pick flowers, don’t touch the roots. It won’t kill the plant and it will bloom next year.
3) Always stay on trails. They are more safe both for you and animals. And rare plants don’t grow there anymore.
4) Remember, that you are only a guest here. So behave yourself as a modest guest. Do not break branches, do not trample plants just for fun. And most importantly, do not litter. Make sure the rest area looks the same as it was before you arrived. The only exception is bio products. A stub from a cucumber or a banana peel will serve as a good dessert for local ants and mice.
